Kondagaon: An exciting Kabaddi match in Raosawahi village, in the Baderajpur block of the district, suddenly turned into mourning on Saturday night. During the match, organized by local villagers, a strong storm blew an 11kV high-tension wire passing over the field and fell among the spectators. A large number of people were enjoying the game under a tent where the wire fell.
A stampede broke out in the tent as soon as the wire fell, leaving people unsure of which direction to run. The villagers, demonstrating courage, immediately pulled the injured out of the tent and rushed them to the hospital.
During treatment at Vishrampuri Hospital, doctors declared three people dead, while two others remain in critical condition. The injured have been referred to Kondagaon District Hospital for further treatment, where a team of doctors is continuously monitoring their condition.
This tragic accident has saddened the entire village. Villagers say that if the electricity department had repaired the weak wires in time, this tragedy could have been avoided. An atmosphere of silence and mourning now prevails in Raosawahi village, where the excitement of the game has turned into grief in an instant.
