Ambikapur/Dipesh Kushwaha: A young female bear cub died after being bitten by a snake in the Dava forest of Udaipur Range in Surguja district. The Forest Department team conducted the last rites of the cub. According to information received, on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, it was reported that a bear had died in Dava, under Dadgaon Circle.
Upon receiving the information, forest officers and staff reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The young cub was taken to a veterinarian in Udaipur for a post-mortem. The autopsy was conducted by Dr. Santosh Kumar Kanwar. The post-mortem report confirmed that the cub had died due to the bite of a venomous snake. After completing the investigation process, the Forest Department performed the final rites of the bear cub as per protocol.
Present on the occasion were SDO Bijendra Singh Thakur, Udaipur Ranger Kamlesh Rai, Forest Guards Sarita Bhagat, Vinod Singh, Beat Guard Vishnu Singh, Amarnath Rajwade, Samarpan Lakra, Shahish Kapoor, and the local watchman.
