Balrampur: Under the Prime Minister National Dialysis Program, patients of Balrampur district are now getting a great facility of kidney related treatment in their own district. This dialysis service operated in the district hospital is proving to be a boon for the needy patients, where free treatment is being done with state-of-the-art machines.
Service running in two shifts with three machines
At present three dialysis machines have been installed in the district hospital, through which 5 to 6 patients are being treated daily. This service is being operated in two shifts, so that more and more patients can get timely treatment. So far 1478 dialysis sessions have been successfully completed and about 35 patients have taken advantage of this facility.
Trained staff, modern technology
A team of specially trained medical personnel is deployed in the dialysis unit, which is providing quality and safe treatment to the patients. The entire treatment process is completely free, which is providing great relief especially to the economically weaker sections.
“Now I get treatment here twice a week”
Dhanesh, a resident of village Kotsari, said, “Earlier I had to go to Ambikapur every week, which not only caused financial burden but also posed a threat to health. Now I am getting treatment in the district hospital itself, that too for free.”
Freedom from expensive private treatment
Other patients said that the cost of a dialysis session in private hospitals ranges from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000, which used to consume a large part of the income of low-income families. In such a situation, many times it became a compulsion to leave the treatment incomplete. Now this free service of the government hospital has become life-saving for them.
Plan of expansion in the coming time
The Chief Medical Officer (CMHO) said that in view of the increasing number of patients, there is a plan to increase the number of machines and expand the staff capacity in the coming time, so that more people can get the benefit of this facility.
