Ambikapur: A major action has been taken in Surguja district amid monitoring of providing quality fertilizers to farmers at the rate fixed by the government. The Agriculture Department suspended the permit of Ambikapur-based M/s Vijay Trading Company and sealed the shop and warehouse after irregularities were detected in urea distribution.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, a special investigation campaign is being conducted across the district under the supervision of Director Agriculture Rahul Dev (IAS), Joint Director Agriculture Surguja Division Yashwant Keram, Collector Vilas Bhoskar and Deputy Director Agriculture Ambikapur Pitambar Singh Diwan. In this connection, verification of farmers taking more than 40 bags of urea was done. The investigation revealed that Vijay Trading Company has violated the Fertilizer (Control) Order 1985, Essential Commodities Act 1955 and Fertilizer Movement Control Order 1973.
On the basis of the statements of the farmers and the inspection report, Deputy Director Agriculture and Notified Authority (Fertilizer) Pitambar Singh Dewan issued an order to suspend the company’s retail fertilizer sales license number B/R-249, dated 02 May 2022 (validity 31 March 2027).
After the license suspension, the team of the Agriculture Department, in the presence of the proprietor Sumit Agarwal, stopped the sale of all the fertilizers kept in the shop and warehouse and took action for seizure. After this the shop and warehouse were sealed.
Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Ambrose Toppo, Fertilizer Inspector Sohan Lal Bhagat, Shweta Patel and Ajay Bada were present in this action.
