Bemetara: There was a stir in Navagarh area of Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday when unknown anti-social elements suddenly pelted stones on the car of BJP MLA Guru Khuswant Saheb. The car was damaged in this attack, but luckily the MLA escaped safely.
The incident happened when BJP MLA from Arang Assembly and Vice President of Scheduled Caste Development Authority Guru Khuswant Saheb was returning to his residence in Raipur after attending a social program in Navagarh. As soon as his car reached the bypass road between Charbhatha Dholia and Bhoinabhatha, unknown people sitting in ambush there started pelting stones on the vehicle.
The stones thrown at high speed could have proved fatal if the car had slowed down. Considering the intensity of the attack, it is being considered very serious. The windshield and other parts of the car have been damaged, but fortunately the MLA did not suffer any injury.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the personal staff of the MLA informed the local police. The police team reached the spot and investigation of the incident has been started. Inquiries are being made in the surrounding areas to search for the unknown attackers.
This incident not only raises questions on the security of the MLA, but also raises concern over the seriousness of the security arrangements of public representatives in the state. BJP workers and supporters are angry about the incident and are demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
